AME Modules Explained
The modules you study for the AME licence
The AME licence syllabus is divided into modules. Every student studies the common foundation modules, and then the modules for their own stream: B1.1, B1.2 or B2.
You must pass the DGCA module examinations for your stream to move towards the licence. This guide explains what each group of modules covers and how Redwings prepares you for them.
Modules common to all streams
These modules build the basics every aircraft engineer needs.
Mathematics and Physics
The maths and physics behind forces, motion, heat, electricity and fluids.
Electrical and electronic fundamentals
Circuits, components and the basics of aircraft electrical systems.
Materials and hardware
Aircraft metals, composites, fasteners, pipes and hardware.
Maintenance practices
Safe workshop practice, tools, inspection and maintenance procedures.
Basic aerodynamics
How air flows over a wing and how an aircraft flies.
Human factors and legislation
Why errors happen, how to prevent them, and the rules that govern maintenance.
What changes with your stream
B1 mechanical students study aircraft aerodynamics, structures and systems along with propulsion modules: gas turbine engines for B1.1, and piston engines and propellers for B1.2.
B2 avionics students study digital techniques and electronic instrument systems, along with the aircraft structures and systems modules focused on electrical, instrument, radio and navigation systems.
The exact list of modules for your stream is in the syllabus download on our AME Syllabus page.
