The rules that govern aircraft maintenance
Module 10 covers the regulatory framework for aviation in India: the role of DGCA, the Aircraft Act and Rules, Civil Aviation Requirements (CARs) for maintenance, licensing, approved organisations, continuing airworthiness and related requirements.
An engineer certifies aircraft as airworthy, so knowing the rules is essential.
What you study in Module 10
Regulator
DGCA and its role in civil aviation.
Licensing
CAR-66 licences and their privileges.
Organisations
CAR-145 maintenance and CAR-147 training organisations.
Airworthiness
Continuing airworthiness and records.
Working within the rules
Every certification signed by an engineer must follow the regulations. Engineers need to know what they are allowed to certify and how records must be kept.
- Certification privileges
- Approved data
- Record keeping
- Regulatory audits

Learning near an approved MRO
Redwings Group runs a DGCA-approved CAR-145 MRO, and Redwings Aerotechnique is a CAR-147 institute, so students see how regulations apply in real organisations.

Train at Redwings Aerotechnique, Bhopal
Redwings Aerotechnique is a DGCA-approved CAR-147 basic maintenance training organisation in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. It is part of Redwings Group, which also runs its own DGCA-approved CAR-145 maintenance, repair and overhaul organisation. This connection means students learn aircraft maintenance from people who work to real industry standards every day.
Students can choose the B1.1 (turbine aeroplanes), B1.2 (piston aeroplanes) or B2 (avionics) stream, or the dual programme AME + B.E. Classes follow the DGCA syllabus and are supported by an engine system lab, airframe system lab, electrical, radio navigation, instrument and battery workshops, a general workshop, audio-visual classrooms and a library. Teaching and counselling are available in Hindi and English.
Admission is through the Redwings Aerotechnique admission test, or by direct joining after an eligibility check. Merit scholarships are offered on the admission test score. Redwings students have recorded 100% results in DGCA module examinations across several sessions, and the first Redwings batch achieved 100% placement in airline and MRO jobs.
You are welcome to visit the Bhopal campus to see the labs and workshops, meet the faculty and talk to the admission team before you decide. Parents can join the counselling session too.

Why students choose Redwings
Studying aviation legislation without stress
Many students find Module 10 dry because it is full of rules. A better approach is to see each rule as an answer to a safety question.
Understand the structure
Start with who makes the rules: the Aircraft Act and Aircraft Rules, and DGCA, which issues Civil Aviation Requirements. Then learn the key CARs for maintenance: CAR-66 for licences, CAR-145 for maintenance organisations, CAR-147 for training organisations, and the requirements for continuing airworthiness.
Link rules to real situations
Ask why each rule exists. Why must an engineer use approved data? Why must records be kept? Why are some organisations approved? These questions make the rules easier to remember.
Revise regularly
Make short notes of key definitions and privileges and revise them often. At Redwings, faculty with industry and regulatory experience explain how these rules are applied in real organisations.
Questions answered
Short, clear answers to the questions students and parents ask most. Still unsure about anything? Our admission team is happy to help.
