Generating and distributing power
Aircraft electrical systems generate power with engine-driven generators, store it in batteries and distribute it through buses to every system on board.
Both B1 and B2 engineers work with electrical systems, with B2 going deeper.
Electrical power components
Generators
Produce AC or DC power.
Batteries
Store power for starting and emergencies.
Buses
Distribute power to systems.
Protection
Circuit breakers and fuses.
Electrical system maintenance
Engineers test generators and batteries, check wiring and connectors, and find faults using wiring diagrams.

Train at Redwings Aerotechnique, Bhopal
Redwings Aerotechnique is a DGCA-approved CAR-147 basic maintenance training organisation in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. It is part of Redwings Group, which also runs its own DGCA-approved CAR-145 maintenance, repair and overhaul organisation. This connection means students learn aircraft maintenance from people who work to real industry standards every day.
Students can choose the B1.1 (turbine aeroplanes), B1.2 (piston aeroplanes) or B2 (avionics) stream, or the dual programme AME + B.E. Classes follow the DGCA syllabus and are supported by an engine system lab, airframe system lab, electrical, radio navigation, instrument and battery workshops, a general workshop, audio-visual classrooms and a library. Teaching and counselling are available in Hindi and English.
Admission is through the Redwings Aerotechnique admission test, or by direct joining after an eligibility check. Merit scholarships are offered on the admission test score. Redwings students have recorded 100% results in DGCA module examinations across several sessions, and the first Redwings batch achieved 100% placement in airline and MRO jobs.
You are welcome to visit the Bhopal campus to see the labs and workshops, meet the faculty and talk to the admission team before you decide. Parents can join the counselling session too.

Why students choose Redwings
Understanding aircraft electrical power in more depth
Electrical power is the lifeline of a modern aircraft. It runs flight instruments, avionics, lighting, galley equipment, fuel pumps, engine control units and many safety systems. Engineers need to understand where power comes from, how it is distributed and how the system protects itself when something goes wrong.
Generation
Engine-driven generators provide the main power in flight. Many aircraft also have an auxiliary power unit that can supply electricity on the ground, and ground power units can be connected at the gate. Batteries provide power for engine starting and act as an emergency source.
Distribution
Power is distributed through buses, which are connection points feeding groups of loads. Essential and emergency buses are arranged so that critical systems keep power even if a generator fails. Converters and transformers change power between AC and DC as needed.
Protection
Circuit breakers, fuses and current limiters protect wiring and equipment from overloads and short circuits. Bonding and grounding protect against static build-up and lightning effects.
Maintenance tasks
Engineers check batteries, test generator output, inspect wiring and connectors for chafing and corrosion, and use wiring diagrams and multimeters to find faults. Safety is vital, because aircraft electrical systems can carry dangerous voltages.
Learning it at Redwings
Modules 3 and 4 build the theory, and Modules 11 and 13 cover aircraft systems. Students practise in the electrical and battery workshops to connect theory with hands-on skills.
Questions answered
Short, clear answers to the questions students and parents ask most. Still unsure about anything? Our admission team is happy to help.
Do B1 engineers work on electrics?
Yes, within their privileges.
What is a bus?
A distribution point that feeds electrical loads.
Why are batteries important?
For engine start and emergency power.
Which modules cover it?
Modules 3, 4 and 11 or 13.
