AME vs B.Tech Aeronautical Engineering
AME licence or an aeronautical degree?
Understand the difference, and see how our dual programme gives you both.
Two routes into aviation
Different focus, different outcomes.
AME
A DGCA licence focused on maintaining and certifying aircraft.
B.E Aeronautical
An engineering degree focused on design and manufacturing.
Dual programme
Redwings offers AME + B.E together for a wider choice of careers.
Why choose both?
B.E (Aeronautical) with Aircraft Maintenance Engineering is a dual programme that enhances candidates’ skills and qualifications. It covers Manufacturing (B.E. Aeronautical) and Maintenance of Aircraft (AME) respectively.
Students who want more options in the aviation industry can read the full details on the dual programme page.
Licence-based career or degree-based career?
Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) is a DGCA licence programme. It trains you to inspect, repair and certify aircraft as safe to fly. B.Tech Aeronautical Engineering is a university degree that focuses on the design, development and testing of aircraft and their systems.
If you want to work hands-on with aircraft in airlines and MROs, the AME licence is the direct route. If you are more interested in design and research, a B.Tech may suit you better.
At Redwings you can also choose the dual programme AME + B.E, which lets you work towards the AME licence and an engineering degree together.
- AME: DGCA licence, maintenance and certification
- B.Tech: degree, design and development
- Dual programme: licence and degree together
- Eligibility for all: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Maths
