Why people make errors and how to prevent them
Module 9 covers human performance and limitations, social psychology, factors affecting performance, the physical environment, tasks, communication, human error and hazards in the workplace.
Many aviation incidents involve human factors, so this module is about building safe working habits.
What you study in Module 9
Human performance
Vision, hearing, memory and fatigue.
Team work
Communication, responsibility and leadership.
Error
Types of error and how to avoid them.
Environment
Noise, light, workload and hazards.
Safety culture in the hangar
Fatigue, pressure, distraction and poor communication can lead to errors. Engineers learn to recognise these risks and use checks and handovers to prevent mistakes.
- Shift handovers
- Fatigue awareness
- Clear communication
- Reporting culture

Safety as a habit
Redwings Group shares the safety culture of a working MRO with its students, so these ideas are practised, not just studied.
- Practical examples
- Group discussions
- Workshop discipline
- Exam preparation

Train at Redwings Aerotechnique, Bhopal
Redwings Aerotechnique is a DGCA-approved CAR-147 basic maintenance training organisation in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. It is part of Redwings Group, which also runs its own DGCA-approved CAR-145 maintenance, repair and overhaul organisation. This connection means students learn aircraft maintenance from people who work to real industry standards every day.
Students can choose the B1.1 (turbine aeroplanes), B1.2 (piston aeroplanes) or B2 (avionics) stream, or the dual programme AME + B.E. Classes follow the DGCA syllabus and are supported by an engine system lab, airframe system lab, electrical, radio navigation, instrument and battery workshops, a general workshop, audio-visual classrooms and a library. Teaching and counselling are available in Hindi and English.
Admission is through the Redwings Aerotechnique admission test, or by direct joining after an eligibility check. Merit scholarships are offered on the admission test score. Redwings students have recorded 100% results in DGCA module examinations across several sessions, and the first Redwings batch achieved 100% placement in airline and MRO jobs.
You are welcome to visit the Bhopal campus to see the labs and workshops, meet the faculty and talk to the admission team before you decide. Parents can join the counselling session too.

Why students choose Redwings
Human factors in everyday maintenance
Most maintenance errors are not caused by a lack of knowledge but by human factors: fatigue, distraction, time pressure, poor communication or assumptions. Module 9 teaches engineers to recognise these risks.
The dirty dozen
Aviation safety training often refers to twelve common causes of human error, including lack of communication, complacency, lack of knowledge, distraction, lack of teamwork, fatigue, lack of resources, pressure, lack of assertiveness, stress, lack of awareness and norms. Knowing them helps engineers stop errors before they happen.
Practical defences
Using checklists, following procedures exactly, doing clear shift handovers, asking questions when unsure and reporting errors honestly are simple habits that prevent incidents.
Fatigue and environment
Night shifts, noise, poor lighting and heat affect performance. Good planning, rest and a safe working environment reduce these effects.
Safety culture
A strong safety culture encourages engineers to report problems without fear, so that the whole organisation can learn and improve.
At Redwings
Students learn Module 9 with real maintenance examples and see the safety culture of a working MRO through Redwings Group.
